RF8

Cheese handling robot

An ergonomic robot for handling and probing cheese wheels, featuring a height-adjustable operator platform and an integrated turning device.

  • Improved ergonomics thanks to a height-adjustable operator platform for a working position tailored to each user.
  • Integrated turning device for effortless wheel turning and to free up the area for probing.
  • Precise and reliable gripping thanks to actual shelf position detection and a gripping module proven on RF robots.
  • Easier handling through automatic guidance, motorised steering and joystick control.
  • Flexible operation allowing shelving, palletising and handling sequences to be programmed, while probing remains a manual operation.

The RF8 has been specifically designed to make the work of cheese sorters, testers and tasters easier in hard-cheese maturing cellars. It allows cheese wheels, including those weighing up to 38 kg, to be handled while reducing the physical effort required for lifting, handling and turning them.

Its gripping module, proven on RF robots since 2009, detects the actual position of the shelf to ensure precise and reliable gripping. Moving components are driven by maintenance-free, non-stretch belts, while plastic guide rails reduce wear and maintenance requirements.

The integrated turning device releases the cheese wheel to allow probing under optimal working conditions. After inspection, the operator can select its destination: returning it to the shelf, turning it over or palletising it, depending on the robot configuration.

The height-adjustable operator platform allows the working position to be adapted to each user. Adjustments can be made manually or saved in the operator’s profile. The robot can be controlled via the touchscreen or using the joystick, which is directly accessible from the platform.

The RF8 moves using a contactless guidance system that automatically corrects its trajectory by using the existing infrastructure. Its motorised steering and steering angle of over 180° make manoeuvring in aisles easier.

Finally, its fabricated and welded 1.4301 stainless steel construction, tool-free removable accessories and surfaces designed to facilitate water drainage ensure a robust, hygienic and easy-to-maintain solution.
